PH Team Qualifier Tickets SOLD OUT

Only the first 32 teams to register are allowed to play.

Why only 32?

For the sake of the tournament format (single eliminations) given by Konami.
32 > 16 > 8 > 4 > 2 > Win

That means, if more teams would like to participate, there should be 32 more wanting to join to reach 64.

Now, 64 teams amounts to 192 players in all. If I remember correctly, the largest turnout here was around 100. It would take a miracle to get 90+ players more. But we never know what could happen, right? In fact, there's a waiting list after the first 32 teams where your team can queue up and replace a team in the first 32 if they dont show up on the day of the tournament itself or if there's a problem and they cannot join anymore. If it happens that 32 teams queue up in the waiting list, we might just see a milestone of 64 teams in the tournament! It really would be a long shot, but, positively thinking, what's the harm in queuing up and taking a chance instead of just giving up entirely?

This is why PH don't have team qualifying tournaments like other countries. Haha, its hard just to get a large amount of ppl to join. Plus, ppl tend to wait until the last day of registration before they would join. This is why many are ranting now.

It's funny. Ppl bought expensive promos for the team tournament but didn't bother registering for it early.
Haha, can I borrow those cards now that you can't use them?? :))

Just got back home from a big year-end tournament and was planning to make a tournament report about it; but, that can wait till tomorrow because there is bigger news to tell!

2011 Asia+ Tournament Participants

Here's a roster of all the participants in the tournament. Popular names are Malaysia's Sung Lee and Singapore's William Oh and Daniel Ang. There's no argument that it was a tournament full of pro players.

Philippines' Bracket

So the tournament system used by Konami for this year's tournament is the same as last year's. There's lots of complaints back in 2010 about this system but it looks like this will be the permanent system for Asia Plus Tournaments in the future too.

Trump Card Mechanics

Here's a pic of the tournament rules and game mode of the previous 2010 Asia Plus Tournament. More or less, the rules for this year will be the same as last year's.

The tournament is participated by 8 teams and will be divided into two divisions by drawing lots. Now, each division will have a round robin tournament and the top team of each division will face off in the championships. This year, Philippines is in the same division as Singapore, Thailand, and Taiwan.

Round1: vs. Singapore!

Round 1 is against Team Singapore! They are one of the crowd favorites in winning the tournament. However, Philippines got to win in a score of 3-0!

PH Leader: 2-1 (score gained = 1pt)

PH Member A: 2-1 (score gained = 1 pt)

PH Member B: 2-1 (score gained = 1 pt)

Team Total Score: 3 pts!

Round2: vs. Thailand

With a good start from last round, the next is against Thailand. Thailand uses their Trump Card to increase their score gain and they won 1-2!

PH Leader: 2-1 (score gained = 1pt)

PH Member A: 1-2 (score gained = 0 pt)

PH Member B: 1-2 (score gained = 0 pt)

Team Total Score: 4 pts!

Round3: vs. Taiwan!

Critical round! Philippines and Taiwan battle it out to determine which team will face against Malaysia in the championships! Taiwan is undefeated and is leading in the division but Philippines uses their Trump Card to try and steal the top spot! Philippines won and benefited greatly from their Trump Card!

PH Leader: 2-1 (score gained = 1pt x 1.25 = 1.25 pts)

PH Member A: 1-2 (score gained = 0 pt x 1.25 = 0 pt)

PH Member B: 2-0 (score gained = 2 pts x 1.25 = 2.50 pts!)

Team Total Score: 7.75 pts!

  

Philippines (7.75 pts) has won in their division and is off to face against Malaysia (13.75 pts!!!) in the Championships!

Dont have details on results on each matchup but overall the Philippines won the 2011 Asia Plus Team Tournament! Congratulations again!

Today (Sunday), the 2011 Top Shop Tournament will be held at about 4:00pm. The Philippine representative is Rey Vincent Lim also and let's hope he can also take home the championships!

I'll be with my last year's Team 3DS (me, William Sy, and Jaison Tan) for the Team Tournament and hopefully win again to defend our title. ^^ With that decided, I think that I'll need to prioritize the Store Championships first.

The weekly Zexal Ranking tournaments we have are now also qualifiers for the Store Championship which is an invitational tournament. Therefore, every Saturday there will be 3 qualifier tournaments and 3 persons will be given an invite for the Store Champs. I'll need to grab an invite if I want to join so I joined the 1st qualifiers.

Deck Used: Graveyard Black Feather

(Dont feel like using my Junkdo that day so I managed to borrow my friend's GY-BF deck and tweaked it to suit my style)

Round1: vs. Piper Burn 0-0- *won die roll

At first, I was nervous coz I didnt expect this matchup at all. However, as the game went on, Scrap Dragon and Trishula raked in card advantage for me. Solemn Judgment also sealed his last card that attempted to burn me out of LP.

Round2: vs. Dark World 0-0- *lost die roll

An early Heavy Storm on his 3 cards forced him to activate his Eradicator Virus which he called right and ate 2 of the my inhand traps. However, his Dealings helped me more than it helped him coz I was tossing Vayus to the GY to speed up my OTK. I sided in Gemini Imps on game 2 and it negated his Dragged Down and key Card Destruction.

Round3: vs. Chito (TG Agent Angel) 0-x-0 *lost die roll

Chito is the 2011 Open Champion. ^^ He was able to do Venus + Gantetsu but was unable to draw into another Fairy until I was able to clear his field and win. He had Kristya and Hyperions in hand but only had Venus and 2 Shine Balls in gy. Game 2 I was locked out by Kristya and a 3600 ATK Tragoedia. Game 3 he MST'd my Torrential and swarmed Striker and 2 Warwolfs. He summoned Wonder Magician and I chained Light Mirror, lol. He regretted doing a blind MST.

Finals: vs. Jay (Machina Gadget) 0-x-0

DAD won game 1 easily but game 2 I was out of good cards in hand and he kept pressuring with Gadgets and Fortress. Game 3 he activated Zombie World which prevented me from making Chimeratech Fortress with my Cydra. However, I was up with 1 card in advantage because of that and it slowly stacked up till he used Crevice from Diff Dimension when I attempted to use Vayu, I used Burial from Diff Dimension to return what he banished, summoned DAD and won.

Final result: 1st place! Won an invite for the Store Championships but no card prizes except for one crap TP17. There's no entrance fee for the Store Championships though.

So I won the 1st Qualifier that day. My teammate, William, won the 2nd qualifier with his Six Samurai deck, again. 3rd qualifier was won with another Six Samurai deck. No Agents won this weekend, lol. 

Six Sam grudge comeback?

Tomorrow I'll post a tally of the winning decks in the Philippines in the Zexal Ranking tournaments. No decklists though, :p
